Buenos Aires, February 10 (NA) — Argentine Román Burruchaga achieved a solid victory over Serbian Laslo Djere and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Argentina Open, where he will face his compatriot Tomás Etcheverry. Burruchaga, who recently reached the final in the Rosario Challenger, won 6-2 and 6-4 after one hour and 19 minutes of play. The match was under Burruchaga's control from start to finish, as he broke his opponent's serve in the very first game. He soon created more opportunities to secure another break, and after holding his own service games, he comfortably took the first set 6-2. In the second set, Burruchaga continued to impose his conditions, quickly gaining the advantage again and heading towards victory. The Argentine could have won the match in the ninth game, but he missed his chances, though he didn't falter when it came to closing out the match with his serve.
